What if the first step to protect the Amazon was not to go to the Amazon — but to learn how to meet properly before going there?

The essentials in 90 seconds

Mission Zero is an 8-day dual-location documission (France Tarn 5d + Switzerland 3d) bringing together two Yawanawa — Cacique Xinu and his niece Yaka — with Maah and Mik, to test before going to the Amazon a new way of collaborating between Sacred Forest, the peoples who guard the forest and Western allies. The project delivers a 2-3 min teaser for Netflix (the first of the 4 capsules requested), a strategic logbook, a V1 roadmap of the Acre programme — and acquires in Switzerland two international institutional anchors (FIFO Martigny under UNESCO auspices + IUCN meeting in Gland). The through-line: WE ARE LOST. We are lost in our world of money, tools and control. They are lost facing the sudden arrival of this world into theirs. The mission transforms this loss of bearings into an honest starting point to build a fair alliance.

The through-line

WE ARE LOST is not an admission of failure. It is the honest starting point of a shared quest.

Indigenous peoples are lost facing the sudden arrival of our world into theirs: money, contracts, image, social networks, climate, funders, storytelling, AI, drones, new dependencies — without forgetting destruction, appropriation, corruption. Their crucial question: how do we adapt without betraying ourselves?

We, Westerners, are also lost. We have built a world of powerful tools, but we no longer know where our food comes from, how to live in relation with the living, how to help without taking power, or how to protect without owning. Our question: how do we help without dispossessing?

Mission Zero begins in this lucidity — in the courage that no one holds the answer alone.

The differentiating narrative object

Xana — the bird passer of culture

The « WE ARE LOST » through-line only works if the encounter between the two worlds can actually happen. Yet in most cases, it cannot — many Indigenous nations have closed the door to Western contact, by memory of past destructions.

Xana changes the equation. Xana is the claimed identity of the Acre peoples — the bird passer of culture, a pride of communicators between worlds. At birth, these peoples all consider themselves Xana. This cultural singularity is what makes the alliance possible — and what justifies why Sacred Forest chooses these peoples precisely, at this moment.

On the ground, Xana is embodied through a meeting with a local ornithologist in the Tarn (vultures' house), in a cross-learning where the 4 species of Tarn vultures mirror the Amazonian bird-passers. The prophecy of the Eagle & Condor is told by Xinu, lived by all, without decorative mysticism.

Why now

A rare window between the TEKOA IRUA tour and the autumn deadlines.

Xinu and Yaka are already in Europe with the TEKOA IRUA tour until 10 September. The window is rare: before the Amazon, before the contracts, before the heavy field constraints, it is still possible to create a free, sensitive and strategic space to experiment with co-creation.

September is a major deadline: Sacred Forest funders pitch + delivery of the 1st Netflix capsule (out of 4 requested) + confirmation of the Acre programme to follow.

November is the second deadline: COP31 Antalya (9-20 Nov), where Maah leads the Sacred Forest delegation with the teaser and derived capsules as networking supports.

The 4 characters

Four complementary voices, one single quest.

The format brings together two Westerners and two Yawanawa, around a simple, transverse and radical question: how do we adapt without betraying ourselves?

Xinu Yawanawa, cacique, front portrait with eagle-feather headdress and ritual ochre face paint

Xinu Yawanawa

Cacique · orator · spiritual leader

Carries a spiritual, community-based and strategic voice tied to the Acre territory and the Aldeia Sete Estrelas. His presence allows the hard questions to be faced with someone who knows the real weight of transmission, cultural sovereignty, forest medicines and community responsibility.

Yaka Yawanawa, Xinu's niece, in ceremonial dress with a radiant red feather headdress

Yaka

Xinu's niece · feminine and generational voice

Prevents the story from resting only on the figure of a chief. Opens a more intimate reading: heritage, youth, transmission, adaptation, sacred feminine, a young eye on Europe.

Maah, intercultural mediator and backbone of the mission's institutional opening

Maah

Intercultural mediator · in charge of the COP mission

The relational bridge. Knows the codes, sensitivities and risks of misunderstanding between worlds. Backbone of the Phase 2 institutional opening: her direct contacts at the IUCN leadership and at FIFO Martigny make the two international anchors possible.

Mik (Leiko), creator, director, drone and AI — the other side of the intercultural dialogue

Mik (Leiko)

Creator · direction · drone · AI

Embodies the other side. Puts his view of the world into question through contact with the guardians of the land. Carries the modern tools of narration, drone and AI to explore how to genuinely serve the connection between worlds.

Background questions

Seven questions that run through the film in the background.

They do not open the film. They run through it across each conversation, each silence, each image — and structure the captured material to feed the strategic logbook and the Acre roadmap.

  • · Can we support the forest without owning it?
  • · Can we protect the living without corrupting it?
  • · Can we fund guardians without buying their freedom?
  • · Can we document without extracting?
  • · Can we transmit modern tools without importing our dependencies?
  • · Can we create an equitable alliance without subordination?
  • · Can we fly the Eagle and the Condor together without one dominating the other?
Maah in action on the field — intercultural mediation and peoples diplomacy

Decisive argument · Institutional credit

In 8 days, the team acquires two institutional anchors difficult to obtain otherwise.

A passage through FIFO Martigny (festival under UNESCO auspices, mingling with indigenous peoples from around the world), a meeting at IUCN in Gland (UN body for nature conservation), and a meeting at the Barbier-Mueller Foundation in Geneva (major cultural reference for indigenous heritage, 50 years). Three openings immediately capitalizable for the September-November window: funder pitch, international events, COP31 Antalya.

The Organismo × Mik Explore alliance, carried with the support of Sacred Forest, exits the mission positioned as an internationally recognized actor.

Decision expected

Validate the principle of Mission Zero and the Phase 1 envelope.

8-day field mission and editing of the 2-3 min teaser (1st Netflix capsule), to deliver in September, ahead of the funders pitch and COP31 Antalya.

The budget framework is currently being refined with Maah, split into two distinct envelopes: Phase 1 (mission + teaser, to validate now) and Phase 2 (long film post-production end 2026, to decide after the mission returns based on the teaser result).

Friday 4 July 2026 Philipp validation · Phase 1 envelope

Deadline before vacation departure. The shooting window opens 19 days later — each day of delay erodes the field logistics preparation margin.
